EAST YORK—Another Meals on Wheels Week has come and gone, and True Davidson Meals on Wheels celebrated in the usual fashion—with the help of some local friends and by spreading the word in the community. 

Recognizing the special occasion, True Davidson recruited some extra help to deliver meals, with assistance from City Councillor Janet Davis and representatives from the Local Health Integrated Network and the Community Care Access Centre. “We are glad that our community partners have taken the opportunity to see the valuable work done by our volunteers,” said Hasina Qader, Executive Director. “Week in and week out, our volunteers deliver more than meals. They deliver independence, human contact and a sense of community to many who may not have those things on a regular basis.”

Each year, True Davidson Meals on Wheels delivers thousands of meals to the people of East York.  Through the help of dozens of dedicated volunteers and the support of the Ministry of Health, the City of Toronto and generous community partners, over 27,000 meals are distributed by this vital service. 

The 2007 edition of Meals on Wheels Week also featured an information booth at Eglinton Square.  This annual outreach is designed to let the community know just what True Davidson Meals on Wheels does, and how important this work is to many of the people in our community.  This year, the booth’s success was augmented by a number of new volunteers who have committed their time to helping others through True Davidson Meals on Wheels.
