TRUE DAVIDSON MEALS ON WHEELS provides tasty, wholesome meals at reasonable cost to East York seniors, new mothers and disabled individuals who are determined to remain living independently. Our service is available on a permanent or semi-permanent basis and is offered to all housebound adults regardless of income levels. The food is chosen by clients from a wide-ranging menu and is delivered right to their doors by friendly, dedicated volunteers. Each year, 90 volunteers help more than 300 East York residents meet their nutritional needs, at the same time providing sensitive social contact and security checks.

True Davidson Meals on Wheels, a non-profit charitable agency that has served the eastern part of the Toronto borough of East York since 1973, gratefully receives funding from the Ontario Ministry of Health and the City of Toronto. It is also supported by client fees, fundraising events and by private donations.

We operate out of two locations:  St. Columba and All Hallows (Anglican) Church at 2723 St. Clair Avenue East near O’Connor Drive; and nearby True Davidson Acres, a seniors ’residence, at 200 Dawes Road, west of Crescent Town, a residential complex.  We accept referrals from clients, their families and friends and, as part of our commitment to East York, from local health-care and social workers and community agencies.

The service is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, which oversees the work of the agency and strictly protects the privacy of clients.  The Board meets monthly and holds an Annual General Meeting each June.
